Voglia matta has got all the charm of an authentic Italian restaurant. The ingredients are fresh and well seasoned and have got, according to me, the closest taste to Italy that you could get in Mauritius. I tried their Vegetariana pizza with grilled vegetables, nice. My favourite is their 4 cheese pizza. The chicken bolognese lasagna is also worth a try. I love how there is more sauce than pasta in the lasagna. I have also tried the pesto lasagna, not recommended if you don`t like pine nuts, 'cause there`s a lot in it. All in all, Voglia Matta is a great place to spend some nice, casual family time.

I never thought a restaurant would be able to match La Cigale in terms of quality but La Voglia Matta did! As I have a huge appetite, I ordered the family pizza for my girlfriend and I. I was impressed!!! It was as big as the table! I will never underestimate the servings size in restaurants again! The pizza was lovely. Had half seafood and half chicken. The seafood pizza is a must. Nice thing I noted was the grilled crayfish the put on the seafood pizza -- never seen that before and this is what I call a good idea! Will definitely go there again and will go for the large pizza instead of the family one. Prices are really good. Rs 300 for a large pizza and Rs 600 for family. Will try the pasta next time I go there. Overall, good service (although the chubby woman on the counter didnt really treat us like foreigners were treated there), awesome pizza with finest ingredients and affordable. Only problem I got there was parking space. Had to park on Popo supermarket's parking and even had to wait for a parking space to be freed but I didnt regret it. Had a nice time there

Definitely a real Italian Pizza and for me the best pizza I've tasted on this island so far. Also, very recommended chilled red wine "CASAIA" (Rosso Toscano) - 50-50 Sangiovese & Carbernet Sauvignon. Service is average, sometimes a bit slow motion; but friendly.

We dined at La Voglia Matta 5 times during our stay in Mauritius this year. The pizza and pasta is excellent and great value for money! They are also happy to make changes to any pizza. We LOVE the restaurant. If you are in the North - don't miss it!

The food at this restaurant is good, it's not always available. I was so happy to find gluten free pizza advertised. The first visit, my pizza was delicious. Every Time since, but one, they've said they don't have gluten free tonight. The one time they did, they got my order wrong. It's not right to advertise that you can provide for food allergies and then consistently not have it available. Gluten free eaters, go elsewhere

We were a group of 12 persons. Once arrived there, we waited for 10 mins, still nothing. We were not even given the menu. We all had to raise our hands to grab the waiters' attention. I asked if the ice tea was home made twice and the waiter told me that he will verify and indeed told me yes. Very slow service. We waited for 20 for our drinks and for our food almost 50-60 mins. My ice tea was actually not home made at all. The pizza was burnt and too salty. The order was wrong and the waiter missed to add the extra toppings we asked to. After complaining to the waiter, he brought us one dessert. Seriously? He said that they will be reducing the bill. Upon payment, not at all. In charge said that the dessert was to make up for the horrible service and that we should have asked the waiter to repeat the order. My suggestion is maybe you should have hired experienced staff who will not eclipse themselves during a busy service to smoke. And improve your customer service. Overall experience was horrible. Not recommending the place at all.

Went there on Valentine day to give it a shot. Ok not the best day to tryout a restaurant. But they had enough staff to cover about 15 tables and about 50 pax. Was greeted as soon we pass the door, got seated straight away. Waited 15 min for a waitress took our drink order by that time we had already chosen our main course. Waited 20 mins to get a cocktail and a coke. Waited 1 hour to get main course but luckily we got bread and butter to wait while the guys was working on the main dishes. Now the food part. Ordered grilled fish, wasnt a brillant idea. Fish was unsalted not even seasoned, i wonder what they were doing during that 1 hour to get the fish ready. Probably fishing the fish!!!!!I guess. During that time i ordered another cocktail for my wife...we got it...20 min later. Again guess they went picking the pineapple in the back garden to make the cocktail !!!! Desert part. Can we have the dessert menu plz. Sure... 10 min later, we dont have a desert menu but i can tell you whats on it, chocolate fondant, ice cream.... By that time i was too piss to order any desert. Good thing there was entertainment, sega dancers and singers, else waiting 1 hour i probaly hung myself in there or go fishing, pretty sure i can catch a fish faster.

I recently had my wedding reception there. The atmosphere was great. They organized the whole thing, we just had to turn up. The cocktail drinks were sensational. The mutton main course was delicious. Everything from the planning to the execution was sharply done. The party afterwards was out-of-this world. They sure do know how to put on a show. I'd definitely recommend people try out these guys. The meal portions are huge too. I'm glad i had my reception at La Vielle Rouge. 5 stars

This was the most excellent indian restaurant I found in the upper-medium class in Mauritius. super delicious! a composition for the tastes! like: - fish in bananaleaf, soooooo good! delicious! - octopus-carpaccio, excellent - beef-masala (curry), so yummy! everything perfect, from the set of tables, plates, glasses and so on. friendly, fast and personal owner Parvis gives everything for his guests, also time for a chat if lonely or wished and even save company home (not to many streetlights there). you ll get bread, butter and a superhot green chili-paste from the house as starter....very nice! good friends now! Parvis wish you all success for your change of locacion! he will move more towards the center and the waterfront, good plan! all the best from Sylvia!

We were on the search for a fish dinner with vegetables and we were very pleased with what we found. The food was delicious. A french Mauritian influenced dish taking advantage of the fresh vegetables from the Mahébourgh markets and catch from the sea.

if i could give you a big zero for your rubber like octopus salad and tasteless and over salted steak i would have happily rated you.Price is high and you get a disgusting food. lack of food choices and slow service. its more like a fashion show going on when serving the food.dont splurge your money at vielle rouge.if you want good food go elsewhere.it's a no-no.
