Puri with Curd

    An unleavened fried Indian bread consisting of a combination of curd and white flour, hot and crisp, especially at weddings.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup of flour
    • 250 ml Curd
    • 2 tablespoon of vegetable oil
    • ½ cup of water
    • ¼ teaspoon of bicarbonate
    • Vegetable oil for frying
    • 1 teaspoon of salt
    • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar

    Preparation

    1. Place 1 cup of flour in a mixing bowl.
    2. Add a teaspoon of salt, a teaspoon of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of bicarbonate and a tablespoon of vegetable oil to the flour. Mix altogether.
    3. Then add 250 ml of curd to the mixture.
    4. Additionally, add little of water gradually and mix until it softened the dough
    5. Knead the dough one last time and make small balls out of it.
    6. With the palm of your hand, press each ball slowly
    7. Flatten each dough ball with a rolling pin ( about 0.25 cm thick)
    8. In a flat pan, heat oil on medium heat for deep frying
    9. Place each puri in oil and as soon as it expands, turn over and immediately remove from pan
    10. Drain on a kitchen paper to absorb excess oil.
