Puri with Curd

An unleavened fried Indian bread consisting of a combination of curd and white flour, hot and crisp, especially at weddings.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of flour
- 250 ml Curd
- 2 tablespoon of vegetable oil
- ½ cup of water
- ¼ teaspoon of bicarbonate
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
Method
- Place 1 cup of flour in a mixing bowl.
- Add a teaspoon of salt, a teaspoon of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of bicarbonate and a tablespoon of vegetable oil to the flour. Mix altogether.
- Then add 250 ml of curd to the mixture.
- Additionally, add little of water gradually and mix until it softened the dough
- Knead the dough one last time and make small balls out of it.
- With the palm of your hand, press each ball slowly
- Flatten each dough ball with a rolling pin ( about 0.25 cm thick)
- In a flat pan, heat oil on medium heat for deep frying
- Place each puri in oil and as soon as it expands, turn over and immediately remove from pan
- Drain on a kitchen paper to absorb excess oil.
