Le Capitaine Restaurant

top quality food and service ,we spend a really nice evening ,try the tiger prawns with olive oil ,normally they put wine in it as a muslim I asked the water to remove the wine but that didn't alter the taste and we came out for 4 persons only RS3000,not bad if you compare what we usually pay

Le Capitaine Restaurant

Visited during recent holiday in Mauritius, having previously had great meal there 10 years ago. We weren't disappointed. We were a party of 12 including children, but the service was prompt and excellent. The waiters were helpful with the menu items, and everyone was delighted with their food choice. Although now back in England, I would gladly travel back to Grand Baie just for another taste of the baked crab & braised palm heart ! Hopefully not another 10 years until our next visit !

Le Callyptus Restaurant

To be honest, i have travelled to many countries and have tasted different types of foods, a country has to offer, but sure to be amazed by the time I’ve been to this family styled restaurant, my culinary experience have played a big role. The fine and unique mauritian fusion cuisine sure made our family’s night memorable, as i was checking its page on Facebook, Le Callyptus Family Restaurant, I’ve noticed this beautiful and sure to be one of a kind, dancefloor, !!! Astonishing , What made it even more interesting, security is ensured and the owner point out clearly, only families, will visit very soon, thanks team Callyptus Restaurant

Le Cafetaria Pereybere

18/10/2010 by Christelle

Temperature: excellente...couleur magnifique, me donnant tres faim...

30/08/2009 by Love Mauritius (Gery .N)

Staying at the Royal palm, I was really recommended to go see this place by the concierge. I really don't know what to say about this place. I am happy I discovered this restaurant, as the food was really excellent. The only problem that in any standard the prices are very high. Cocktails are about 1000 Rs and the dinner for 4 of us was total 28000 Rs!!! which is what I paid for one night at Royal Palm. If the prices don't scare you, then you should definitely try this place - a true one of a kind

Le Café des Arts

truly a magical place I visit each time Iam in MAURITIUS,MAGICAL SURROUNDINGS and as a bonus the wonderful works by YVETTE Maniglier to be admired. It is like a well kept secret. The place does not come cheap but what can be expected at this level. Before dinnerdrinks are twice the size of what you get at your 5star resort for instance. So I 'd sayoverall an honest price-quality rate.4course dinner-including lobster-is 4000rupees. for this price you get a marvelous dining experience. If you like fine dining do not miss out.To unconditional fans of fastfood;stay away

Le Café des Arts

This was the dining highlight of our trip to Le Toussrok, it is wonder why more people don't venture outside the hotel, this is such a wonderful restaurant, I wish we had discovered it earlier in our visit so we could have gone a few times. Highly recommended and a great salve after buffet food! Definitely worth the trip, and whilst a little on the expensive side, well worth it.

Le Café des Arts

20/01/2013 by vanbaelen kris

This was not my first visit to the Cafe des Arts.Iam not a great writer of reviews because I think one can get carried away with an exceptionally good (or bad)experience. In this case I just feel like Ihave to write a review to share this place with others and since I am new at this I will follow the guidelines. Be aware this is a high-end place,no fast-foodlovers here:but then you will feel the atmosphere as soon as your driver turns the car into the garden of this old and superbly restored sugarmill(la petite Victoria)Just the sight of the immense and cleverly lighted banyantree is awesome. The guests are greeted by the owner himself or one of the elegant hostesses dressed in sari and that is just the beginning of a wonderful evening. An evening which I find a welcome relief of fivestar hotel routine. You make your selection from the menu seated in a cozy lounge ,surrounded by the colourful paintings by Yvette Maniglier.Don't expect to find a very elaborate menu but everything is exceptionally fresh and you will find of the highest standards of food.Iloved the lobster which seemed reasonably priced when compared to my hotel where the supplement for the lobster was the same as the asking price here,le coeur de palmiste braisé accompagné de gambas to die for, carpaccio de daurade as an appetizer-it is all coming back now-le trio de chocolat(as a Belgian I know my chocolate),poisson en croute de sel and I could go on.Everything presented on personnalized plates, little works of art competing with the ones on the walls. The service is outstanding, becoming quite seldom these days outside 3star-restaurants.Eventhough the most important in a restaurant may be what is on your plate, this kind of service gives that extra bit of glitter to a wonderful evening. No need to look for a waiter to refill your glass, but no pushy waiters either trying to get you to open a second bottle if you don't want to.Beyond all this is the savoir-faire of Jocelyn Gonzalez master of the house and host extraordinaire, taking into account the slightest details from namecards on the tables to the choice of the music, always supervising everything and entertaining you with amazing stories about his artcollection. Speaking of the music it is not seldom that people ask if they can take home with them the music of The Cafe des Arts.Mr Gonzalez might have a nice surprise in store for you there, but let's not spoil it! Last time I went we had a private evening and a jazzquartet playing live music. Before I would have told you jazzmusic is not really my thing now I wouln't say that again. It was the kind of evening that ended all too soon but it made me feel very privileged ! Do not expect a very crowded place, nevertheless if you don't make reservations in advance you won't get in.Prepare yourself for an intimate or romantic experience. But if you want to organize a private function like nowhere else in Mauritius and have an evening everyone will talk about, there is no place like "le Cafe des Arts"at Trou d'Eau Douce. And Jocelyn he will do the impossible to realise all your requests. I am looking forward to having my next birthdayparty there!

Le Café de L'Atelier

18/04/2015 by Anekha

Had lunch at L'Atelier yesterday Friday the 17th of April 2015. Had a great time, beautiful set up, you're suddenly away from port-louis crowd city centre n noise. A cool music plays in the background, there are Mauritian books in its librairie upstairs, n beautiful joyful paintings on the wall. A stone building with an ancient cachée outside and a modern look inside, industrial type. When you're seated you're offered a little amuse bouche, either a tomato gaspacho with croutons, or a little toast of tomates cerises n chese etc. I took Toulouse as main course, a parmentier de canard with mtian duck confit it is accompanied by a salad of lettuce n walnut, well seasoned. My guest took vindaye cerf with rice, lentils, petsai, chutney pomme d'amour. Was all delicious. The fresh juices are also worth tasting, perfectly refreshing. To be recommended for a cosy intimate lunch with distinguished guests n friends.

Le Bougainville Restaurant

15/08/2011 by Victoria

When we arrived we were asked to pick our own table and the menus arrive almost immeditely. They had a lot of choices and the prices were about 300 roupees. The food was delivered a bit to quick almost straight after our galic bread. The drinks were very nice and I had Pinacolada. The was was quite nice but the service was quite slow when coming to collect plates and give the bill. This restraunt is very nice and I would reccommend this to all.

Le Bois Cheri Restaurant

The view is breathtaking. You would probably want to have a stroll around the restaurant after lunch (beware the mosquitoes though if you wander off to the tea bushes)! One of the annoying things when you're inside the restaurant was that there was some flies. As for the good, the smoked marlin starter was great. the dishes are nicely presented, but the steak was too hard, i couldn't finish it. the fish was just okay, big chunks on a brochette, but nothing refined. service was good. they gave us one free dessert, but i don't know whether that was because there was a lot left (by 2 30pm, we were the only ones in the restaurant). to be fair, perhaps the other dishes was more tasty. might go back to try them + to enjoy the view.

Le Bois Cheri Restaurant

Just great! I was there last year and huge transformation has been done since. The restaurant is fully air condition, the paint has changed so nicely, toilets are very clean and service and food is wonderful. The new menu is just great and very affordable for local people and tourists. People must not get trap with the M restaurant find at the entry of bois cheri tea estate. The food there, is very expensive and also the taxi man take 400 rupees on the head of each tourist customers who goes there. It is unacceptable and we all got trapped the first time we went to bois cheri. The bois cheri restaurant is on top of a hill with a beautiful lake on one side and a wonderful view on the deep south of the island. A MUST!

Lundi 5 mars 2012.

So wonderful! Last year i came and i got confused with the restaurant which is a the entrance of the Bois Cheri Tea Estate. To go to the Bois Cheri Restaurant , you must drive thru the factory and go up the hill, then you will reach an amazing little lake with swans etc...When you get to the restaurant you can have a 180 degree view on the south of the island. You can choose to eat in an air cond restaurant or food can be served on the deck on the lake. so wonderful, just like switzeland...The service and food were outstanding. Next year , we shall definitely come back.
