Mauritius Child Friendly Restaurants & Children Activities

Planning to eat out with your kids? Rainy days in Mauritius and kids are bored?

Finding places to eat out in Mauritius which are child friendly can sometimes be tricky. Add to that the prospects of a tantrum erupting over an uninspiring plate, cramped quarters, unfriendly staff, lack of highchairs and no suitable baby-changing facilities and your dining experience could well turn into a nightmare. Thankfully there are restaurants and cafes in Mauritius that have taken the time and effort to consider the need of us parents and have effectively combined great ‘grown-up’ food with well-thought-out facilities and refreshing kids’ menus. Some of the restaurants have even gone as far as providing our kids with activities, creating the perfect recipe for a dining bliss.

Mauritius is undoubtedly one of the world’s most kid friendly destinations with splendid white sandy beaches, luxurious hotel resorts, nature hikes with waterfalls views, unique volcanic colored earth, and array of attractive locations. The island is a symbol of racial harmony and diversity so different worship places are scattered around the island making it a great way to introduce your kids to different cultures!

Children Friendly Restaurants in MauritiusThe local cuisine is a mix of Creole, Chinese, European, African and Indian Cuisines. The hotel resorts offer a Mauritian buffet at least once a week. Although Mauritius was a British colony for a long time, it has retained a lot of the French culture in its cuisine. The eating habits even reflect the mixture of the two -You will find Mauritians eating chicken curry with French baguettes, and enjoying their British tea time in the afternoon! Rice with lentils and vegetables, non-spicy chicken and meat dishes with a tomato based sauce typically form the daily meals of Mauritians, grilled food especially seafood are also common, and pastas are the norm, so food will not be an issue with the kids!

Whether you're looking for a friendly atmosphere, somewhere for the children to play, more interesting healthy children's meals, or somewhere to able to warm up baby food, try our list of suggestions:
