In fact, it was the first time that we ate at your restaurant but frankly we were a bit dissapointed. It took us too long to have our food served. We were even about to cancel the dessert also. The food was just ok though we were expecting something of higher quality.

We went there in a group of friends of around 10 people. The restaurant and atmosphere is quite nice and friendly and bright; most of all the live music was creating the nice atmosphere on a weekend night after work.

The food, however, except for my Seafood Combo was only average. The dessert also was not very special. And a Latte afterall is not recommended, as 3 things...

went wrong: The Latte glass/mug, the drink was similar to a hot milk rather than a coffee and the spoon too small for the soft drink glass served.

It may be a nice place to have a drink after work to chill out by the music.

The food was excellent. The foie gras with porto jelly is a must have. Overall, food is very nice and drink offerings not bad at all. However, they should look at improving the service. Some waiters kept talking to each other while we were trying to draw their attention for orders ! This restaurant looks promising and with a bit of hard work it should become one of the best in bagatelle.

The first time I went there, I was not very impressed. However I decided to give it a second chance and I went there during the week end. The service was much better than last time and so was the atmosphere of the restaurant. The food was quite nice and the time it was delivered was quick as well.
They have started to do a lunch specials which looks quite appealing.

I will definitely go there another time. I recommend everyone to give it a try.

My boyfriend and myself went to this restaurant last Thursday. African style grill house with nice food. The food presentation is fantastic, which personally, differentiate from other grill house in Mauritius. Service was quick with very courteous staff. I recommend the Mixed Seafood Platter with the gorgeous mouth-watering Lobster and my boyfriend had a nice T-Bone! Good job and well done to the team. We will definitely come back again.

The first time I went there, I wasnt very impressed by the service and the food. However I decided to give it a second chance on Friday and I was well impressed. The service quality had changed and the food as well. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very good as well. They have a free wifi service for customers and also a karaoke option as well. I had a look at the offers...

they have for Valentine's Day and they looked quite attractive. Roses for the women and ferrero chocolate for the couples. Sounds interesting. I recommend everyone to give it a try if you haven't yet.

This restaurant is truly not good. My friends and I recently had dinner there and I cannot fully explain in words, my disappointment, rage and fury as to the service we obtained there.

To begin with, after ordering our food, we had to wait for about 40 mins before our starters (plain and simple garlic breads) and main courses were being served to us.

When these finally...

came to our table, I was informed by the waiter that the Chef had, on his own, decided to change my order- from grilled meat to prawns. Obviously he found it useless asking for my opinion, and enquiring whether I had any allergies to seafood- WHICH I DO.

I can honestly say that we were not the only ones disappointed with our food and general experience at this very restaurant. Not only was the service, the food was overly priced and not very tasty in general.

While the owner thought that I would be extremely grateful and would forget about this experience by offering us the dinner, i can honestly say that I shall NEVER set foot in that restaurant again.

If there are people considering going to Talking Drums - Bagatelle, I would highly encourage them NOT to.

Usually on my birthday, my husband and I usually have dinner at Spur. But this time, we decided to change and try Talking Drums, because it sounded like a good restaurant: good food, good service and good ambiance! But oh, we were really disappointed!

We made a reservation and the lady on the phone told us there would be a buffet. When we got there, no sign of the buffet...

and the waiter told us we were mistaken and must have spoken to the wrong person! But hey, we called on the number displayed on this website, so if we have talked to a person who did not have the correct information, who's at fault?! So after hearing our complaint, the restaurant owner offered us a starter: Duck Foie Gras. That was a nice gesture and we settled down and thought the rest of the dinner would be better.

Time to order and I ordered a 300 gms steak which was served with sauteed vegetables and mushroom risotto, and my husband ordered a 350 gms steak with sauteed potatoes; he expressly told the waiter that he was allergic to dairy products.

When our food came 30 minutes later, the plate I was served had no sign of the mushroom risotto. On my husband's plate, instead of the sauteed potatoes, there was 2 potatoes in foil with a big splash of cream! When we questionned the waiter, he had no idea what our order was (because it was not the same waiter who had taken our order!). When the waiter who took our order came, he told me that for my order, it was either sauteed vegetables OR mushroom risotto! And he tried to convince my husband that the cream was in fact mayonnaise! Furthermore, he could not explain how my 300 gms steak was twice the size of my husband's 350 gms steak!

My husband was really upset because since we got there, service was really mediocre! We asked the waiter to give us the bill so that we could leave. We got the bill for the drinks and when we were leaving, we explained to the restaurant supervisor that since we came, the service was really bad. And do you know, what he told us? That he wanted us to leave now! What kind of restaurant is that??? You get mediocre service and when you complain, they tell you they want you to leave?! Not even a word of apology?!

We shall nevet set foot in that restaurant again and we cannot also pass over it before communicating on why Talking Drums messed up what was supposed to be pleasant evening - to ensure other couples/families do not have similar situations.

So here's 3 reasons not to go to Talking Drums:

- Their service is mediocre/amateur; they could not even advise on their menu and the waiters seem to have no knowledge on the food they serve.
- They have no sense of customer service and organisation, despite the restaurant was far from full.
- All this coupled with their high prices - Apparently apart from the owner, none of the other workers envision to provide a premium service to the level of the pricing on the menu.

We ended up having dinner at Spur wishing we had never changed our routine.

My wife and I went for lunch on a Friday...I was looking for an African style steak but didn't exactly get what we were looking for. The wife had to send her lamb chops back as they were cold...My t-bone was lukewarm and not as 'African' as I would have expected...However service was good as staff was attentive. I might give it another try but I doubt my wife will be coming with me...
