I went for medium rare for the newyorker, as those steak houses often go overboard and cook it too much, and the steak ends up dry. Sure enough, they got it right, but unfortunately, the meat was tasteless. Instead of the juicy pinkish red meat I was expecting inside, it was a brownish/grey, chewy, and barely tasted like beef.

The appetizers were ok.

Service was average....

The waiter should cut his nails. Management is to be blamed for that. To be fair, he was quite knowledgeable about the menu.

They also forgot the spoons for sauces.

It's really too bad, 'cause the restaurant has a fine setting, but bad food and average service ruins it all.

I'm not going there again, and if for some unknown reason, I really have to, I'll go for something else than the beef, for sure.

I am thoroughly disappointed by the service at Blacksteer at Emarald Park. I am from Zimbabwe and as a family we had a tradition of going to the Black Steer Restaurant at Greatermans in Harare to celebrate our birthdays and wedding anniversary.

next day and our wedding anniversary. When we got there, we were surprised to hear that there was no table for us, then we said we had made a reservation. When we checked we realised we had been booked for the 7th and not the 8th. Dispite having had emphasised on the date due to the language barrier that seem to exist hen one speaks to some locals in English.

So we had to leave and eventually went to buy pizza. i swore I was not going to go back to Black steers again on this Island, however today, my husband decided to take s out for dinner for my birthday, how great it happens to fall on Valentines day. He asked me to choose a place where we could go for dinner, and I just said we will go to Nandos. After taking a nap I just said lets give Black Steer another chance. So I called hoping they have some space and fortunately they were not fully booked.

We reserved a table and went with our daughters. We got there and checked in at reception. There was a paper that appeared to be a guest list, am not sure on that one, however, our detail had been scribbled at the back of that paper, I thought that was somewhat not right. I did not want to spoil my day by focusing on such a thing. We were shown a table where we sat and sat and sat, we could see other guest come in sit and they immediately get served.We sat and waited, 5 minutes passed, then one guy came and asked if we were waiting for someone to which we said no. So he asked if he could remove the extra glasses and cutlery we were sitting at at 6 man table but we were only 4.

So we thought for a while that the reason we had not been served was because they thought we were waiting for other people to come. Under normal circumstances, I think the waiters ask if you want to order something while you wait or something to that effect.

We sat another 5 minutes and we thought it was better to go to another place. The children were starting to get restless and were also wondering what was happening. On our way out I just made an effort to register my disappointment with the lady who was standing by the reception.

I do not know what to say but hey I expected so much more from you or maybe I expected too much. We just expected to be treated like normal human beings is that too much to ask for?

Well this has been recently the most awful experience I have ever encountered in Mauritius! First of all we got there at 8pm. We returned two New Yorker steaks to the kitchen as they were like chewing gum! One steak was okish and the last one never came out right! The person who was going to have that steak finally did not have dinner and left to eat sth else at 10pm!! Can you...

imagine?? We have also been told by the waiter that very often the food gets returned to the kitchen depending on the chefs. This already indicates it! On top of that we were given a discount for the very bad experience and ruined evening, bad food and awful service! But before leaving the waiter made sure he told us that the owner said that we were very dishonest for asking for a discount. I shouted to them and asked them whether the chef who is cooking whether he is not dishonest for cooking such food and being paid a salary at the end of the month. I have been told by my various friends that it is a restaurant to be avoided by all means!!!!
