Can I eat at a hotel restaurant in Mauritius if I am not staying there?
Often, yes. Many resorts take outside guests for dinner, Sunday lunch or the beach bar, usually with a booking. Some outlets serve residents only. Call the hotel or check the venue listing before you go.
Do I need to book?
For dinner, yes. Hotel restaurants plan covers around their own guests, so a table for outside diners is easier to get with a call a day or two ahead. Lunch at a beach restaurant is easier to walk into.
Is there a dress code?
Fine dining rooms in the larger resorts usually ask for smart casual in the evening: no swimwear, and closed shoes or smart sandals for men. Beach restaurants and bars are relaxed.
