Points, badges and the leaderboard
How contributing earns points, what badges recognise, how the weekly leaderboard works, and where to see your own totals.

Restaurants.mu is built by the people who eat out here. Points are simply our way of saying thank you and of showing other diners whose word carries weight.
What earns points
- Writing a review
- Adding photos
- Confirming you turned up after a booking
- Sharing a recipe
- Filling in your profile — a photo and a few words about the food you like
When they land
Points are added once a contribution has been approved, not the moment you press send, which is why your total may move a little later than you expect. If something is refused, no points are given, and nothing is taken away either.
The one thing that does cost you points is cancelling a booking at the very last minute or not turning up at all. A reserved table that stays empty costs a restaurant real money.
Badges
Badges mark moments rather than sheer volume: your first review, a completed profile, photo and review milestones, and contributing steadily over time. They sit on your public profile, so anyone reading your review can see the kind of diner you are.
The weekly leaderboard
The leaderboard resets every week and counts only approved contributions from that week. That means somebody who joined on Monday can top it by Sunday — you are never behind on history.
Seeing where you stand
Open your profile from the menu. You will find your points, your badges, your reviews and photos, and the restaurants you have saved. Your points history is private to you; other members only see your published contributions and your badges.
