Adding photos to a review
Sizes and formats we accept, how to attach photos while you review, and how they are checked before they appear.
Checked 6 September 2026
Photos are the first thing most diners look at, and a real photo taken at the table is worth more than any professional shot. You can attach them while you are writing your review, or add them later by editing it.
How to add them
In the review form, press Add photos and pick images from your phone or computer. You will see each one appear as a thumbnail before you send, and you can remove any you change your mind about.
What we can accept
- Up to 5 photos per review
- 10 MB maximum per photo
- At least 800 x 600 pixels — anything smaller looks blurry on a listing, so it is refused with a message telling you why
- JPEG, PNG or WebP
If a photo is refused, the rest of your review is unaffected — just try another picture.
What happens next
Each photo gets a small restaurants.mu watermark and is checked automatically. Screenshots, unrelated pictures and anything unsafe are refused immediately. Anything the check is unsure about waits for one of our team, usually not for long.
Photos are handled one at a time, so your review can already be live while a single photo is still being looked at. Once approved, the photo appears in the restaurant's gallery and on your profile, credited to you.
Your photos stay yours
Delete any of your photos at any time from your profile. Restaurant owners can see photos on their listing but cannot remove yours — if an owner thinks a photo is misleading, they report it to us and we look at it ourselves.
Photos that get used most
- Shoot in daylight, or near a window, rather than under a spotlight
- Fill the frame with the dish and hold steady for a second
- One wide shot of the room or the view helps enormously
- Skip heavy filters — people want to see what they will actually be served
- Avoid photographing other guests who have not agreed to it
