Very good food. You have to try the poisson Corne which is one of the best there. Try along the poulet and agneau saute. Last one is the chatini aubergine. Great one.

food ok, its a lot of grilled or fried staff, very oily. however the service is so bad that you dont enjoy it. the hostess is incredebly rude, and the service is slow

This was not my first visit to the Cafe des Arts.Iam not a great writer of reviews because I think one can get carried away with an exceptionally good (or bad)experience. In this case I just feel like Ihave to write a review to share this place with others and since I am new at this I will follow the guidelines. Be aware this is a high-end place,no fast-foodlovers here:but then you will feel the atmosphere as soon as your driver turns the car into the garden of this old and superbly restored sugarmill(la petite Victoria)Just the sight of the immense and cleverly lighted banyantree is awesome.The guests are greeted by the owner himself or one of the elegant hostesses dressed in sari and that is just the beginning of a wonderful evening.An evening which I find a welcome relief of fivestar hotel routine. You make your selection from the menu seated in a cozy lounge ,surrounded by the colourful paintings by Yvette Maniglier.Don't expect to find a very elaborate menu but everything is exceptionally fresh and you will find of the highest standards of food.Iloved the lobster which seemed reasonably priced when compared to my hotel where the supplement for the lobster was the same as the asking price here,le coeur de palmiste braisé accompagné de gambas to die for,carpaccio de daurade as an appetizer-it is all coming back now-le trio de chocolat(as a Belgian I know my chocolate),poisson en croute de sel and I could go on.Everything presented on personnalized plates,little works of art competing with the ones on the walls. The service is outstanding,becoming quite seldom these days outside 3star-restaurants.Eventhough the most important in a restaurant may be what is on your plate,this kind of service gives that extra bit of glitter to a wonderful evening.No need to look for a waiter to refill your glass,but no pushy waiters either trying to get you to open a second bottle if you don't want to.Beyond all this is the savoir-faire of Jocelyn Gonzalez master of the house and host extraordinaire,taking into account the slightest details from namecards on the tables to the choice of the music,always supervising everything and entertaining you with amazing stories about his artcollection. Speaking of the music it is not seldom that people ask if they can take home with them the music of The Cafe des Arts.Mr Gonzalez might have a nice surprise in store for you there,but let's not spoil it! Last time I went we had a private evening and a jazzquartet playing live music.Before I would have told you jazzmusic is not really my thing now I wouln't say that again.It was the kind of evening that ended all too soon but it made me feel very privileged ! Do not expect a very crowded place,nevertheless if you don't make reservations in advance you won't get in.Prepare yourself for an intimate or romantic experience.But if you want to organize a private function like nowhere else in Mauritius and have an evening everyone will talk about, there is no place like "le Cafe des Arts"at Trou d'Eau Douce.And Jocelyn he will do the impossible to realise all your requests. I am looking forward to having my next birthdayparty there!

Went with family and friends after visiting the Rochestar Falls for Fresh Water Swimming and Diving. The Chicken Curry ,Fish Curry , Prawn Curry was awesome. Had been looking to get some nice authentic Mauritian Food to taste and enjoy. I Finally found it.

Debonairs Pizza - Grand Bay

very disappointing with grand baie debonairs pizza.no good service for clients even though it was not full. the staff were busy cleaning and talking between themselves and service was not taken into consideration. i order a pizza. we were four person.we did not get side plates ,tissues, fork& knife or ketchup & tomato sauce. i had to leave my place 3 times to ask them for knife and fork, tissu paper then ketchup and tomato sauce.. to serve clients they have no time but to talk with other restaurants staff they do have time... very unskilled staff for debonairs pizza of grand baie, those who worked there on 13.01.13 at around 9h15.

le cadre est absolument fabuleux !! la nourriture est de très bonne qualité et les prix sont abordables. J'y suis allée déjà en 3 fois et j'y retourne bientôt. A chaque séjour à Maurice j'essaie d'y retourner

Ocean Basket - Bagatelle Mall

Last Friday, I wanted to eat seafood at ocean basket. This was one of our favorite restaurants that we used to go with families and friends. I understood it was very busy that night and I did not mind to queue up for a table.After 30 minutes, I got a table and could order. Since I have noticed their specials whilst waiting, I decided to take a family meal with 18 prince prawns which I asked to be upgraded for queen prawns at additional special price of Rs 95 for every 6 queen prawns . I was told that if I need to upgrade I need to do so for all the 18 prince prawns which I accepted. To my surprise, the manager told me that I would need to pay an additional of Rs135 for every 6 prawns. After explaining the obvious, the manager agrees to apply the special price of Rs 95 for upgrading every 6 prince prawns to queen ones as mentioned on the special board near the entrance. After another 30 minutes, we finally got the food which was very good despite that I noticed that not all the 18 prawns have been upgraded to queen ones but as I didn't want to interrupt the good moment that my children had, I have not made an issue. When we finished, I asked for the bill and found that bill mentioned additional of 3 x Rs 135 for the upgrade of the 18 prawns instead of 3 x Rs 95. I went to see the cashier and also, told the waiter who was aware since the beginning but the latter told me to see the manager again. I politely advised that there is an error on the bill and to my astonishment, the manager 'Kishan' advised that there is no error and that I had a 'special price' as on the menu! My husband and I could not understand his reaction and I was furious of his attitude. i told him that he made us understood that he agreed to apply the special price as on display. By his reaction, I found it totally unprofessional and dishonest as I was sure he did not think that I would have not noticed and thought that I would pay without looking at the invoice like I used to do. I even told him that he is a liar! Since I wanted to leave this place as soon as possible I paid the bill of Around Rs1700 with the intention of not coming back again..

I was very disappointed after the dinner in this restaurant. The service is very slow and food has bad taste. The only good thing, according to me, was the atmosphere: really nice structure, with a big balcony where you can see the sea, but that evening this atmosphere was ruined by the cyclone.

Debonairs Pizza - Phoenix

I think the below points explains the painful experience me and my family suffered at your outlet at Jumbo Phoenix:- 1. My wife really likes your ''Tikka Chicken Pizza''... so on the 31st Dec 2012, I took my family at Jumbo Phoenix.... I booked for a pizza at 17hr50....AND I WAS ALONE AT YOUR COUNTER... 2. I was asked to wait for 20mins for a Pizza... by 17hr35 my pizza was still not prepared... when I enquired, your staff tells me that it will be ready in 2 mins.. its in the oven.. SO i remained patient... 3. 5mins later... the Pizza was still not prepared... when I re enquired... another staff tells me.. '' sorry sir, we have only 2 persons working here and we are doing our best to deliver.. pls give us 10mins and you will get your pizza....'' 4. I told the staff that this is not acceptable.. and I need to speak to a responsible.. A Manager if possible... so the staff showed me a woman who was standing at the Steers counter... chatting on the phone... 5. I went towards her... when seeing me, without even talking to me.. she directed me by with her hands, pointing towards the next counter which was the fishaways counter... DISGUSTING!!! 6. Now.. so I went to the Fishaways counter and spoke to a certain Mr Veerman Boodhun who claims to be in charge of the Debonairs pizza at Phoenix. I explained him the situation.. 7. He apologised and told me that these things happen and I NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT they cannot really say how much time it can take to deliver my Pizza... and most shockingly... he told me that EVEN AT KENTUCKY's these things can happen... DO YOU BENCHMARK YOUR SERVICE WITH KFC? if yes.. I would have got the pizza in less than 15mins. 8. I again told him that I am a customer and I expect to be valued and get a quality service ... and this was the 2nd time I was facing this problem at Debonairs.. the last time I got the same problem at Cascavelle... Mr Boodhun again tells me that he cannot do aything.. these things happen... so I was starting to tell myself whether the problem is perhaps with me that despite things like these happen in such a competitive environment, I keep visiting your outlets!!! CAN YOU ANSWER ME PLS? 9. So I remained calm and I again told Mr Boodhun that I cannot accept to wait again.. promptly, Mr Boodhun proposed me to refund my money for the pizza... he picks up his phone and asks the girl at the Debonnairs pizza counter to refund my money... and asks me to move there and I will get a refund for this.... 10. I was disgusted.. so i went back to the debonairs pizza counter.. to my surprise, the girl tells me the pizza is ready... If I want to accept it... without even listeing to what I have to say... the girl picked up a phoen call from Mr Boodhun... asking her to refund my money and not giving me my pizza!!! 11. I went back to talk to Mr Boodhun of my appreciation.. I really wanted to create a scene there... but my 15yrs experience in Customer Service, withing which 5 years as Customer Service Manager, stopped me to doing so... So I asked him who is the in charge your restaurant at phoenix... I need to make a formal complaint... Mr Boodhun told me it was him and there was no one above himat the phoenix restaurant and all complaints will be dealt by him... 12. I asked him for a phone number.. he gave me ARROGANTLY the number 217 3499... the email address [email protected] along with his name "VEERMAN BOODHUN" on a piece of paper. 13. I left the place disgusted..... 14. From the 31/12/2012,I have been phoning on the number I was provided and even on your hotline... 800 1888... NO BOBY PICKS UP THE DAMN PHONE.... 15. In this process.. I lost my time, the time of my family and our mood were really off on an evening of 31.12.2012 and I lost 2 X Rs50 prepaid cards calling from my mobile without anyone picking the phone!!!!!! NOW PLEASE RATE YOUR SERVICE on the above 15 points an kindly feel free to contact me on 788 9306 if you have anything to say to a really disappointed customer... I have been to the Ocean Baskets in South Africa and found them very good. This one was very poor. All they wanted to do was get you out as soon as possible so they could get some more customers in. Cheep food by all means. If you want to eat frozen cheep food is the right place to go.

J'AI ETE A LA PAGODE HIER POUR L'ANNIVERSAIRE DE MA FEMME POUR UB PETIT DINNER MAIS C'ETAIT DESESPERANT....UN CANARD A L'ANANAS SANS GOUT,UN CALAMAR A LA SAUCE HUITRE TROP CUIT ET TROP SALE,UNE SOUPE WANTAN SI ON PEUT APPELLER CELA UNE SOUPE AVEC SEULEMENT 2 WANTAN POUR RS110+TVA.ON AVAIT COMMANDE UN PLAT DE POULET CROUSTILLANT MAIS IL Y AVAIT AUSSI DU CALAMAR CROUSTILLANT DANS L'ASSIETTE IMAGINEZ VOUS MA FEMME EST ALLERGIE AUX FRUITS DES MERS.MAINTENANT ON A EU LES BOISSONS APRES 15 MINS,LES ENTRES APRES 50 MINS ET LES AUTRES 80 MINS FROID EN PLUS....CE RESTAURANT C'EST PAS TERRIBLE VU LES PRIX DU MENU. Food quick and service efficient. Ordered chicken liver great, portion size tiny...salad was very bitter, too many olives dressing very bitter. Chicken ordered ok. Very expensive meal overall we were only there for an hour all in all. No childrens activities to keep them occupied.
