Recipe Overview
Locally known as Gato Arouille, these fritters are made by grating taro roots and frying them until they are crispy. It has a slight sweet and salty taste, combined with ginger. Another recipe from the Sino-Mauritian community, which is enjoyed by all.
Recipe Ingredients
- 1Kg Taro Roots
- 1 1/2 Tbsp salt Or salt to taste
- 1/2 Tsp Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Ginger Paste Or Grated
- 1 Cup Spring Onion
- 1/2 Cup / 60 g CornFlour Or More Depending of your mixture
- Oil for Frying
Instructions
- Grate Taro finely
- Add salt and sugar
- Add ginger paste
- Add spring onion and mix
- Shape Taro into medium sized balls
- Heat oil in a pot on medium heat
- Fry Taro for 5 mins or until golden
