I have been eating and dining at Mugg and Bean Restaurants throughout South Africa over the past few years. I took one of my Customer with me for Coffee at Mugg and Bean Bagatelle Mauritius. The waitress brought me another Tea Bag shortly. When I checked out, I noticed that I was charged for Two Portions of Tea which to me was very odd. I requested to speak to the Manager and after delibration of 15-20 minutes not Manager was to be seen. Waitress kept on going on the first floor to speak with the Manager and despite my various requests, no one attended to me. After 20-25 minutes I got fed up and left my contact details with the waitress. What I can't understand is that all I was requesting to speak with Manager and enquire about my Bill. If this is how an irrate customer is treated, I will never recommend anyone to go Mugg and Bean in Mauritius plus other stores in South Africa as well. I was told that its the instructions of South Africa Head Office to charge for Two Teas when an extra Tea Bag is demanded. I find this reason to be pathetic and totally unacceptable. I run my business in 10 countires in Africa and Asia also and would never let my Sales Team to be addressing a customer complain like this. For me paying to Two Teas is not an issue and I pointed this out to Waitress but it was more a question of a PRINCIPAL and how customer compalain is handled. It was totally not what I expected from a Franchise like Mugg and Bean. I am not even sure that anyone should be charged for a Tea Bag which has now strength like the ones being used in Mauritius at present. Mugg & Bean Bagatelle reviewed by: Shona on 18/02/2012 Mugg & Bean Mauritius is NOTHING compared to the M&B in South Africa, so do no be fooled. We were so excited but came out very disappointed. Portion size is small, chips are rare, price is expensive. In brief not worth the visit, waste of money. It might be okay for coffee break, but I shall not risk it. Read More » minutes, how do you think I felt 10 minutes after? Yes, right still hungry with empty table! The food was obviously not so well prepared, meat was good selection and I'm complaining, about the rest which felt like just came from feezer and microwave. It wasn't hot, just warm when it was served (weird) and the cheese wasn't melted properly. The waitress said it is not on the menu card but it is common that the Chef will prepare a chicken burger. After 15 minutes, when our meal came, my wife was served a Beef Burger. She had the first bite when she realized that the red meat cannot be chicken. It was to her total... Read More » surprise when she asked the waitress, the latter took it , admitted it was a beef burger, was cool about her blunder and just changed the plate. No apology and no reasons given! She was totally cool about it. I feel if is extremely important for you to understand the strong religious beliefs Mauritian people have. Hindus do not eat Beef and Muslims do not eat Porc. At the end of our meal, I insisted to speak to your duty manager to report the matter to him. All that I can say, he has no authority and has no personality at all to handle such situations. It seems he is a mere waiter too who has not mush training. We walked out of your restaurant with a very bad feeling of disgust and Mugg & Bean Bagatelle Mauritius is not at all the same as the several experience we witness in Cape Town for instance.
