Mauritian tuna salad is a classic at home! The visual has been revisited a bit in lime halves.
Ingredients
- 220g canned tuna in olive oil (preferably organic)
- 1 small bunch fresh coriander
- Salt & pepper
- The juice of one lime
- 3 small tomatoes
- 2 piments oiseaux (or more)
- 1 heaped tablespoon chopped red onion
- 10 limes, cut in half and hollowed out (squeeze them and keep the juice for seasoning and also to make panacon)
Method
- Start by crumbling the tuna in a bowl with a fork and drizzle with the olive oil from the can itself; the advantage is that the tuna flavor will be greatly enhanced as it will have thoroughly infused in its preserving oil.
- Chop the coriander and add it to the tuna.
- Sprinkle with chopped onion and coriander. Cut the piments into small pieces and add them to the mixture.
- Cut the tomatoes, removing the seeds to avoid too much juice. Dice them into small squares. Add them to the tuna.
- Drizzle with lime juice, salt, and plenty of pepper. Mix well and distribute into each lime half. Enjoy!
