Sauteed Green Beans with Potato Recipe


Recipe Overview

This Sauteed Green Beans with Potato recipe is quick and easy, and produce the most tender and delicious green beans. They are flavored simply with fresh garlic, salt and pepper which allows the natural flavors to shine through. Sautéed green beans make the perfect side to serve with almost anything.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 500g Green Beans
  • 3 Medium Potatoes (peeled,washed and cut in quarters)
  • 4 Garlic cloves (peeled and sliced)
  • 2 Onions (peeled and sliced)
  • Oil and Salt
  • Bicarbonate (baking soda)
  • Fresh Thyme
  • 3 Dry Chillies

Instructions

  • Trim both ends and de-string the green beans
  • Wash green beans and slice lengthwise
  • Heat 1 cup of oil over medium heat and add the potatoes
  • Season with 1 tsp of salt
  • Remove and drain when potatoes turn light golden colour
  • Heat 1/2 cup of oil in a woke or skillet over medium heat
  • Add 1 sliced onion, thyme, sliced garlic and dry chillies
  • Sauté for 1 minute
  • Add the fried potatoes
  • Add the sliced green beans
  • Sprinkle 1 tbsp of salt and a pinch of bicarbonate
  • Mix together
  • Reduce heat to minimum, cover and cook for 8 minutes
  • Finally add the second sliced onion and turn off the heat
