Recipe Overview
Barfi is traditionally made with milk and sugar. However, there are also many flavoured variations, made with different ingredients. This version is flavoured with coconut and pistachio, the perfect combo to celebrate Diwali, Eid or to serve guests.
Recipe Ingredients
- 2 Tbps Butter, Melted
- 1 Tin condensed Milk | 395g Condensed Milk
- 2 Tbsp Cardamoms Powder
- 2 Cups Milk Powder | 250g Milk powder
- Green Food Colouring
- Pistachio Flavouring
- Coconut Flavouring
Instructions
- Add 2 tbsp of melted butter in a sauce pan over medium heat
- Add 1 tin of condensed milk (395g)
- Stir to an even consistency
- Add 2 tbsp of cardamoms powder
- Add 2 cups of milk powder (250g)
- Keep stirring until a dough is formed
- Divide the mixture into two equal parts
- Add green food colouring and pistachio flavouring to one part of the dough
- Mix well
- Add coconut flavouring to the other part
- Mix well
- In a greased mould, layer the first mixture and flatten until smooth on top
- Then add the second mixture and flatten
- Allow to set for 3-4 hours before cutting the layered barfi into desired shapes
