Recipe Overview
Also known as Baguette Fromage, these cheese sticks are a Mauritian-favourite snack. It can often be found in packets, sold in small shops and supermarkets, but nothing can beat making your own. Deep-fried until golden brown and crunchy, you’ll soon find yourself making more than one batch.
Recipe Ingredients
- 1 Cup /150g Plain flour
- Salt to taste
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 3/4 / 90g Cream Cheese ( Any Brand) Or Soft Cheese Or Kraft Cheese
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Add 1 cup of flour to a big bowl
- Add salt to taste
- Add 2 tbsp of butter
- Rub butter into the flour
- Add 3/4 cup of cream cheese (90g)
- Knead everything into a dough
- Divide the dough into half
- With a rolling pin, roll out the dough
- Cut the rolled out dough into equal strips
- Twist the strips
- Deep fry on medium heat until golden brown
- Remove when done and set aside to cool off on a paper towel
