Baguette Fromage (Cheese Sticks) Recipe


Recipe Overview

Also known as Baguette Fromage, these cheese sticks are a Mauritian-favourite snack. It can often be found in packets, sold in small shops and supermarkets, but nothing can beat making your own. Deep-fried until golden brown and crunchy, you’ll soon find yourself making more than one batch.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 Cup /150g Plain flour
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 3/4 / 90g Cream Cheese ( Any Brand) Or Soft Cheese Or Kraft Cheese
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  • Add 1 cup of flour to a big bowl
  • Add salt to taste
  • Add 2 tbsp of butter
  • Rub butter into the flour
  • Add 3/4 cup of cream cheese (90g)
  • Knead everything into a dough
  • Divide the dough into half
  • With a rolling pin, roll out the dough
  • Cut the rolled out dough into equal strips
  • Twist the strips
  • Deep fry on medium heat until golden brown
  • Remove when done and set aside to cool off on a paper towel
