Cooking Class
Shakinah has always been passionate about cooking and used to spend a lot of her time as a child in the kitchen with her mother. Her hobbies would include preparing snacks for her relatives and learning a great deal of cooking and recipes from her late grandmother.
Her passion for cooking led her to study Food and Nutrition during her secondary school years (SC and HSC Level). Not one to shy away from extra curricular activities, she was always present at any opportunity to try and learn more about cooking and baking. She pursued further studies in the Education field while studying more about food with classes at MIE and is now employed as a Home Economics teacher.
A fan of Italian, Chinese and Mauritian food, Shakinah also enjoys adding her own personal touch to the meals that she prepares with seasonal ingredients. She encourages healthy food and always tries to modify recipes to be healthier - such as her Briyani recipe without ghee. She will also share with you some delicious, easy and quick recipes concocted around the world. You will have the chance to learn how to plan ahead, shop smart, save time, save money, master new skills and whip up new recipes whenever you need inspiration or advice in the kitchen.
