We just went there in the hope of enjoying a good moment and eating nice italian dishes. We were extremely disappointed of the service- NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL. 1.The waiter doesnt know about the menu. The pizza section includes a note that says every dish is served with a choice of salad, chips, etc,. We queried the waiter about it and he said he doesn't know what that is. He didnt even care to ask his superior for our clarification or for his future encounters. We had to tell him twice that we would like to know about it in case we have to choose. We then found out that this was an error on the menu. 2. We took an octopus salad (rs250 EXCL vat) but which is way worth less than ard rs 190 inc VAT in terms of quantity and content. We asked whether this was accompanied with bread and the waiter said 'no',the dish doesnt come with anything'. We asked him a second time whether we could get some bread to eat with and he again replied negatively. but as I was watching at the food counter I saw a basket of bread waiting to be delivered at our table. Guess the latter wasnt aware of wat comes with! 3. Not so happy with that treatment, while eating, we found that the bread was over grilled and was completely dark burnt at the bottom. we had to use knives to take out the burnt area. 4. the most unpleasant part was when we asked for 2 small additional plates koz we wanted to share the salad and other dishes that we were taking. Surprisingly, the waiter was reluctant to bring the plates. he was so rude and had the nerve to tell my mum "how many times do i have to go back and forth?!" (whattt??? but man!, does that not form part of ur job??!! whatever a client asks for within the business, is it not ur job to go and look for it?!) To add to this, we got our soup but no spoon. we SO UNFORTUNATELY had to call for the waiter again to bring spoons! If that was possible I would have called for another waiter by there is only one waiter serving all client coming in. So we had to wait for him to see us waving at him and also had to wait for him to serve the other tables before getting to us! 5. Mum was finishing her dish when the waiter came at our table to take away empty plates. He then hesitantly asked whether there was anything missing. For a second I thought that he realised we were annoyed by his unpleasant behaviour but I was wrong. He also asked whether he could bring the bill. I wasnt yet done with my food and I had to tell him please, im still eating. if he could bring it later. Earlier, I needed 'tissue paper' but I didnt want to get disagreeable responses so i remained silent. But when the waiter asked if there was anything missing, I kindly told him that I need tissues to clean around mouth and guess what? he told me to use the towel on the table. (the one you put on ur lap). As if if i could use this, i would have asked for tissue papers! 6. and by the way, I ordered a ravioli (after being told that the tortellini was not available)/. This was below expectations. 7. Im not sure hes got something against us? the bill for one of the other table was incorrectly calculated, and from another table, one of their plate was dirty. We knew it as the waiter said it so loudly to the man at the counter- supposedly the manager, who didnt seem to care about customer satisfaction as well.

I live nearby to Flic en Flac, this is not the 3rd time i eat at " Chez Pepe" and each time got a very bad experience. The service was bad, No thank you.. Nothing. This time I waited 30 minutes to get the food and the food was not enough cooked. I was disappointed !

Hi. I see am the first one to write a review on Chez Pepe after 2014. One simple thing.... If you are Mauritian, don't go there..The service will be different for you. I've been there for my fiance's birthday. We enter the restaurant and ask for a table for 2 person. The place was quite empty. They put on in the middle on a 2 place table. tnen we ask to sit near the window on the side. but the waiter argue that thesee are for for 4 person min (table of 5 chair). we say ok its fine. then some few minutes later, a 2 tourist enter the restaurant and go straight to the 5 chair table !! the waiter did'nt tel them anything. Then he cam to see us and tell us that we can sit there if we want !! This is very bad service..We should asked for everything.. chili, ketchup, bread.. there was only 2 waiter.. the tourist got everything fast and didn't ask for anything.. what is this??? What a shame. !! And i was paying the same thing also.. why did i get a different service then.. the service is the worst i've seen

Pour commencer, faites nettoyer la table, une couche de poussière noire sous les avant-bras...Ça commence bien ! Le serveur nous appris un truc...Un Pina Colada se sert en dessert ! Ah bon...On en apprend tous les jours. Finalement on opte pour un Ti Punch, tellement "léger" qu'on a l'impression de siroter un Sprite !...Ça continue.... On passe au gratin de crabe : où est la chair de crabe ? Insipide et sans gout, une espèce de "préparation fromagère" (ne qualifions surtout pas ça de fromage) très gratiner (voir brûlée) qui a une forte tendance a faire l’élastique quand vous essayer de le manger...Bref, pas bon, aucun intérêt ! Y a-t-il réellement un cuisinier derrière, la question reste posée ?.... Passons aux pâtes à la Carbonara...On s'attend au moins un sans-faute sur la cuisson des pâtes (surtout quand se qualifie de restaurant Italien), eh bien non ! Trop cuit, quand à la sauce : très liquide (pas d'onctuosité)...Je cherche encore l’œuf dedans ! Finalement le vin commande n'est pas là, sur les conseils de notre serveur (très baratineur....Mais pas serveur de métier) on prend un verre de vin rose....Une horrible "piquette", c'est bien la première fois qu'on me fait ça a Maurice : sans nul doute possible, il vient de nous servir du Bordofin !(boisson premier prix vendu en boutique a Maurice : espèce de mélange d'alcool fruits et colorant - bien connu des Mauriciens), d'ailleurs le serveur n.a jamais voulu nous montrer la bouteille face à notre doute avéré. C'est du foutage de gueule complet ! Apres tout ça, il est facile de comprendre que ne nous sommes pas risque de prendre un dessert.... Je me demande comment on peut penser ouvrir un restaurant quand on ne connait pas l'ABC de la restauration, restaurateur est un métier, ça s'apprend...Si c'est pour faire ça, fermer, ça vaudra mieux pour tout le monde ! "Chez pépé" était un très bon restaurant il y a quelques années, avec une bonne réputation (méritée) - Ce n'est vraiment plus le cas !

Chez Pepe used to have a bad reputation from the old reviews on here, but here is my review in 2022. Last Sunday 25th September at lunchtime (1 pm) I took my family for dinner as it was my birthday. We had previously asked for a table setting for 6 and despite them not doing reservations when we arrived the table was set up for us. The staff were very pleasant and greeted us at the door especially since we had our 6 month old grand-daughter with us. We sat down and looked at the extensive menu debating what 3 pizzas we would order for 6 of us to share. The staff took notice of this and did not come and pester us to order until they saw we were ready, another nice touch. They also did this for all the customers as well and not just for us. We ordered the 3 pizzas and a round of drinks which were 5 large beers and a fruit juice. The timing and delivery of the drinks was just before the food arrived. Yes it took some time to arrive and it was because the pizzas are all hand made to order so you have to wait for them to be cooked. This was not a problem as this is not a fast food restaurant . The pizzas all had very good taste and were full of toppings and cooked to perfection . The fact is that there was no left overs from our meal. The staff waited patiently for us to finish and our invitation to get the bill. They did not just bring it and dump it on the table they waited for us to be ready to pay. At the end there was a nice touch of a small basket of sweets to eat. Overall from every time we have passed the restaurant when it has been open it always seemed to be busy which in a street opposite the beach in Flic-en-Flac with lots of restaurants is something to say about the ambience and value compared to other restaurants that are nearly empty at the same time

Went there 2-3 time with da wife. For tequilas..hehehe Then decided to go for dinner 1 night with the parents, service nothing to complaints about as every1 know the wife and i there for leaving good tips. As soon we walk in got seated straight away and asked for drinks and was servered with 5 minutes. Food part. Starters was not that great, chefs was probably having issues with salt, food was too salty and was ask to get another one which this time was. All four of use got crispy squids that night. Main course..... Wife Lamb Steak...cooked outside, raw inside, probably defrost using a microwave or was thrown frozen directly to the pan. Lamb was 40% fat 20% bone 40% meat. And the meat was very chewy. Would recommend. My dad and myself ordered beef steak. Was very well seasoned and cooked, nothign to say about it. Mum got squid, supposely fresh squid, I should have write FRESH in bold. Like FRESHLY out of the freezer. Got the waitress to go over to ask the chef to taste it and she came back and goes like the chef said it taste like that because its FRESH..hahaha Sorry i ate fresh squid before and i know how fresh squid tate like....would recommend Desert was fine, nothing to complaint about, and tequilas was fine as well with FRESH lemon cut that same day ;-)

Went there only once and ordered 'Poulet Griller". Once got the meal,realised that it was not real 'poulet griller'. Tasted like catlesse.HAHAHAHA

On mange très bien dans ce restaurant. L'ambiance manque un peu d'éclairage, soit, mais les plats sont un vrai régal, mettant en valeur la cuisine mauricienne authentique : délicieux ! On ne pourra que le recommander à ceux qui veulent manger mauricien le temps d'une escapade dans la charmante Mahébourg, où il ne faudra pas oublier d'aller visiter le Musée Naval à quelques pas seulement.

Bought One Calamar Croustiant + 1 Bol Renverser Fruit De Mer through your Service Take Away. I called at 06.30 PM and informed the Sales girl that I will collect same at 07.30 PM. My misadventure of the so called Restaurant Chez Patrick Specialist in Fruit De Mer starts – 01. I went to collect the food ordered around 07.40 PM and the Sales girl informed me that they are now preparing my order. Same was also said to two other client!!! While waiting, some client complain about receiving their order with missing shrimps or ordered Mine Frit and received Riz Frit!!! 02. Finally at 08.15 PM, I received my order!!! 03. At home, when I open the take away, I noticed that the food was below Standard. a. The Calamar Croustiant was oily and it seems same was pre-fried earlier and then just before they served it to the client, it is cook again. b. The Bol Renverser Fruit De Mer consists of only 3 Shrimps and 3 small slice of Fish. No Calamar, no octopus etc… Can Mr. Patrick Mootoo advise the meaning of Fruit de Mer which the Restaurant is specialize about – See Picture enclosed!!!!. Ashwin

That is a very good reataurant...especially the food was superbly prepared. Service, Good, because one waiter had forgotten my bottle of water which I ordered..well they were really stressed cause of the number of customers..I really love "Ourite Safrane" (and Fruit Yang or Shoui Yang, don't know how its written) which was very delicious. I will certainly be returning to this restaurant very soon.
