I've had lunch several times at the Ocean Basket with my fiance. I love the seafood platter. Their linefish and mussels are also delicious. However, the restaurant staff tends to get stressed(panicky) when the restaurant is overloaded with customers and the only negative remark about the food is that i feel that they have diminished their portions, for e.g, the scampis get smaller every time we go there.

Last Friday, I wanted to eat seafood at ocean basket. This was one of our favorite restaurants that we used to go with families and friends. I understood it was very busy that night and I did not mind to queue up for a table.After 30 minutes, I got a table and could order. Since I have noticed their specials whilst waiting, I decided to take a family meal with 18 prince prawns which I asked to be upgraded for queen prawns at additional special price of Rs 95 for every 6 queen prawns . I was told that if I need to upgrade I need to do so for all the 18 prince prawns which I accepted. To my surprise, the manager told me that I would need to pay an additional of Rs135 for every 6 prawns. After explaining the obvious, the manager agrees to apply the special price of Rs 95 for upgrading every 6 prince prawns to queen ones as mentioned on the special board near the entrance. After another 30 minutes, we finally got the food which was very good despite that I noticed that not all the 18 prawns have been upgraded to queen ones but as I didn't want to interrupt the good moment that my children had, I have not made an issue. When we finished, I asked for the bill and found that bill mentioned additional of 3 x Rs 135 for the upgrade of the 18 prawns instead of 3 x Rs 95. I went to see the cashier and also, told the waiter who was aware since the beginning but the latter told me to see the manager again. I politely advised that there is an error on the bill and to my astonishment, the manager 'Kishan' advised that there is no error and that I had a 'special price' as on the menu! My husband and I could not understand his reaction and I was furious of his attitude. i told him that he made us understood that he agreed to apply the special price as on display. By his reaction, I found it totally unprofessional and dishonest as I was sure he did not think that I would have not noticed and thought that I would pay without looking at the invoice like I used to do. I even told him that he is a liar! Since I wanted to leave this place as soon as possible I paid the bill of Around Rs1700 with the intention of not coming back again..

food ok, its a lot of grilled or fried staff, very oily. however the service is so bad that you dont enjoy it. the hostess is incredebly rude, and the service is slow

Food served is quite good but sometimes cold. MCB cardholders are entitled to a 5% discount when dining at Ocean Basket, Bagatelle from Monday to Friday. My family and I dined at the restaurant on Friday 8th March 2013 and I was not granted the discount when effecting payment with my MCB Mastercard.

Had a late lunch there some weeks ago. We had a platter for 2 & it was just delicious. I like their idea of "mix platter"; you get serve a variety (fish, prawns, calamari, etc) within one meal. Not forgetting that everything was just perfectly cooked. Our waiter was a very pleasant guy, always ensuring we got everything we needed. We really enjoyed our meal. No need to say we'll be back for more quality meal soon!

ocean basket offers a variety of food ranging from a simple village salad to a delicious combo platter. i tried a platter for 1 and recently i tasted the tandoori flavour.. i must say, they were both super delicious.. specially the calamari heads its very tasty.. i will definitely recommend this seafood restaurant to all my friends... this is what we call value for money :)

Had a very Chic experience at Ocean Basket this is the best seafood restaurant I've never found elsewhere ,all is perfect there ,Wow! very nice the seafood are authentic I definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone. Have a try you'll see you'll never regret

Yummy food but however the tandoori platter is not worth it at all

I have been to the Ocean Baskets in South Africa and found them very good. This one was very poor. All they wanted to do was get you out as soon as possible so they could get some more customers in. Cheep food by all means. If you want to eat frozen cheep food is the right place to go.

We have been to OB on many occasions and it is consistently good food. Generallly we order the same dishes Sushi which is always very fresh like salmon sushi platter and tastes good . The Prawn and squid grills are excellent Service is generally very. .efficient and curtious also. Only criticism toilets very small and they have no activities for families with young children. Fortunately food arrives in good time to feed them!

Le menu est bien, mais le service rigide. On fait la queue à la caisse alors que le restaurant est presque vide. Quand arrive enfin le moment d'être placé, le serveur choisit la pire table et on ne peut pas discuter. Ce n'est pas le client roi ici!

Very friendly family run Chinese restaurant. We have been using over a number of years and have always enjoyed excellent food. We highly recommend this restaurant for both Mauritians and tourists. From simple local food to sizzling dishes you will love it all. Enjoy!

Wonderful food and in a lovely setting just set back from the beach at Flic en Flac. Most of the Flic en Flac places have a very informal daytime cafe feel, this one is a more traditional restaurant, with an open air bar adjacent. Tasteful decor, and pretty quick service. Had a slightly surreal experience as we entered, one of the waiters seemed to be asking me for a lift back home as he'd forgotten his tie! In fact the wait staff seemed to be arguing a lot with each other and running around, but as the food came quickly and they responded to all requests in a polite and friendly way, that just proved to be a bit of entertainment while our food was prepared. The ginger duck was gorgeous, and, although it seems odd to remark on, the rice and the noodles were delicious. Whole lot was reasonable priced too. I'd definitely recommend this one. If only to see the pretty waitresses with mini-skirts again.

I just want to say that i have been dinning in the resto for the past 3 years,i think the food is awesome I love kamikazz and the only place i can get to drink kamikazz at Ocean,I did taste it at other resto's but its not the same I am now a regular guest and i wud suggest that who ever reads this plz take a try at Ocean,My promise is that u will not go to any other restaurants at Flic en Flac.

The table was dirty. Service was pretty good, and food came surprisingly fast. Fried calamari was dry and too hard (you can find much better elsewhere). Fresh red snapper was okay, but lacked taste. If they're going to put in more MSG just for taste, nevermind. Overall, overpriced meals. Much better chinese food elsewhere.

C'est le plus bon, beau restaurant que j'ai connu a Flic en Flac... Quand on passe devant le resto pour la premiere fois, on pense que c'est cher mais pas du tout. Le rapport qualité prix a ete bien mise en valeur... Depuis, quand je vais a Flic en Flac, c'est le seul restaurant que je frequente. Allez y, vous n'allez pas le regretter... J'ai que du positif a vous dire car rien n'est laissé au hasard... Le personnel est au petit soin pour chaque client... La nourriture, tres bon et en bonne quantité... Le prix... confirme ce dont vous mangez et pour pas cher...

My kids said your sushi are simply the best sushi they have eaten so far. It's like your sushi are made in heaven.Highly recommended oiishi sushi creation.

This restaurant's logo has to be the worst logo in the history of logos. On my visit to Mauritius, we drove by the restaurant and I read it as PLUM. It's only after a few weeks that someone mentioned the word Opium while pointing at the restaurant that I realised that it was the real name. I run a marketing, design and branding firm in Canada and I do know about logos.
