This was our first dining experience at this wonderful hotel, Le Bazaar is on the floor above the lobby. The restaurant is situated near a large coloured tiles pool with a bridge in the distance and the stage area where shows take place. This part of the hotel at night takes on a different style, coloured lights everywhere, it is so magical. It features a large variety of dishes, where do you start? Start salad section, fresh juice areas, wonderful fresh bread, for the main course there is just such a huge choice, and do not let us forget the deserts – oh such a great choice. It has a great market place atmosphere where you can just wander, stopping at many show kitchens chatting with the lovely Chefs, it was great start to our many dining experiences at the hotel. Although it is self service, the staff are brilliant, they are very attentive/also smiling nothing is too much trouble. Le Bazar is a a stylish restaurant with a great atmosphere in comfortable surroundings, if you are lucky enough to get a table on the terrace you can enjoy al fresco dining, fabulous food and of course wine, and on several nights of the week having the best table in the hotel to enjoy the shows.

A conseillé absolument.

First of all, we only stopped here to grab a mid-afternoon treat while touring Port Louis last Saturday, so our review may not be an entirely fair reflection of this cafe. It has a great location overlooking the harbour, marred a little by the odd smell coming off the water (which is, of course, not their fault). A nice place to sit in the lunch and afternoon, complimented well by an excellent singer with a good repertoire. Truly, I'd go there to here her again, her voice was amazing. The food (just an icecream and a flambeed banana, was slow to come, and unremarkable. Obviously bought ice cream with squirty cream and now effort to make the experience anything more than cafe snack. Waitresses were polite, but the whole experience is very pushy along the front there, with waiters acosting you for the different establishments.

I went there for a morning meal at 10.30/11 on a Wednesday. After hesitating for a few minutes for a grilled fish, I was confirmed it was frozen and went for a Creole Calamari recipe with rice at nearly Rs400. Quite a disappointing experience I could feel the back taste of a frozen meal and the recipe itself lacked of spices. I was literally tomato sauce, with tiny pieces of overcooked potatoes. That's it - nothing creole, no spices, no intention or interest to cook and to please. I swear it was like a ready meal put in the microwave. The waitress was very friendly though. For the atmosphere, there was none from the restaurant itself, but I liked the view. In fact I always wanted to have a meal there, but I guess, while thats the only restaurant I tried on this side, I would go to another one but for a drink. I guess its a tourist trap; sad - such a nice location.

Very bad service - tried to pay by card and was told they only accepted cash. I explained i had no cash and the manager said "thats not my problem". I tried to leave with my wife and baby to get cash from the ATM and the manager would not let us leave. I asked if she was accusing me of trying to leave without paying and she said yes it happened before. I was extremely insulted. They demanded i leave my passport there while i went to the ATM and questioned why i didnt have it with me when i told them i didnt. Extremely rude and bad attitude. Ruined our visit to Port Louis.

The view is breathtaking. You would probably want to have a stroll around the restaurant after lunch (beware the mosquitoes though if you wander off to the tea bushes)! One of the annoying things when you're inside the restaurant was that there was some flies. As for the good, the smoked marlin starter was great. the dishes are nicely presented, but the steak was too hard, i couldn't finish it. the fish was just okay, big chunks on a brochette, but nothing refined. service was good. they gave us one free dessert, but i don't know whether that was because there was a lot left (by 2 30pm, we were the only ones in the restaurant). to be fair, perhaps the other dishes was more tasty. might go back to try them + to enjoy the view.

Just great! I was there last year and huge transformation has been done since. The restaurant is fully air condition, the paint has changed so nicely, toilets are very clean and service and food is wonderful. The new menu is just great and very affordable for local people and tourists. People must not get trap with the M restaurant find at the entry of bois cheri tea estate. The food there, is very expensive and also the taxi man take 400 rupees on the head of each tourist customers who goes there. It is unacceptable and we all got trapped the first time we went to bois cheri. The bois cheri restaurant is on top of a hill with a beautiful lake on one side and a wonderful view on the deep south of the island. A MUST!

Lundi 5 mars 2012.

So wonderful! Last year i came and i got confused with the restaurant which is a the entrance of the Bois Cheri Tea Estate. To go to the Bois Cheri Restaurant , you must drive thru the factory and go up the hill, then you will reach an amazing little lake with swans etc...When you get to the restaurant you can have a 180 degree view on the south of the island. You can choose to eat in an air cond restaurant or food can be served on the deck on the lake. so wonderful, just like switzeland...The service and food were outstanding. Next year , we shall definitely come back.
