Nous y mangeons depuis une quinzaine de jours et nous sommes toujours très bien accueillit ils sont gentils, attentionnés, toujours à l écoutes de nos besoins la nourriture est très bonne et variée que dire de plus que grâce à eux nous passons de super vacances Merci

Tolles Strandrestaurant, vor allem zum Sonnenuntergang. Sehr gute Steaks im Südafrika-Stil. An manchen Tagen ist es recht voll und störend sind hin und wieder die, die einen Schluck zuviel getrunken haben. Da sollte man vielleicht vorher die Rechnung präsentieren. Ansonsten sehr empfehlenswert.

Great location. Appalling service. It's a shame that a bar with such potential is such an irritating experience. I've gone several times for the location, on the beach with a view of Grand Baie, and with the hope that things will improve but each time I come away annoyed. Service is slow and indifferent. I don't think I've been charged correctly yet so you have to wonder what's going on behind the bar. Or not, as I've seen staff fighting, drinking and making out instead of serving. A senior staff member imposed a mandatory tip on one occasion even though she was too busy with her boyfriend to provide service. To add insult to injury we were shortchanged on the drinks we ordered. Always an aggravating experience, not what you're looking for on a night out.

The experience was awfull, the service is shocking. The manageress was so drunk and talking to her staff so rude. had a much better time three months prior, will not be going back the any time soon.

Beach house has such an awesome location on the beach. The food is not bad, its good infact but the prices are horrific. Beach house has such good potential but whats holding them back are their South African staff. I am South African so no stereotyping but the staff employed there are clueless. They have terrible manners and don't seem to care about their tables. The local waiters are far better are friendlier.

It's very surprising that there are not more beach front pub/restaurants in the tourist hot spot of Northern Mauritius. For the time being there is at least one that I know of; The Beach House. This place is a gold mine due to the magnificent location directly on the waters of Grand Baie. You can go for a quick dip in the bay and come right back up to the restaurant. That said, this restaurant is full of potential but as a gold mine it churns out nothing but disappointment. The food is alright but the prices are high and the service is atrocious. At the time of this review, The Beach House has been open for well over a year, yet customer service has never been up to par and they've have had a lot of time to work on it. In my opinion, they cash in on tourists without any regard to recurring customers. *Service: Some of the South African staff at this restaurant are extremely rude and lack any sense of manners. The local staff can be a mixed batch of good, mediocre or just plain bad. There is however one exception, a very nice young man by the name of Linley; if you want to ensure a good experience insist that he be your waiter. Linley is one of, if not, the best waiters I have had at any dining establishment in Mauritius. I don't want to alienate customers from experiencing The Beach House. However, it should be made clear that customer service and satisfaction are not priorities at this establishment. Until management recognizes this and decides to rectify the situation, this place will continue to provide sub-par service and disappointment to its customers.

It is always easy to be critical. Especially when one has to pay for something.Especially if that something is, well, something you cannot hold or see or feel after you have paid. At Beach House one pays for mostly outstanding food, fantastic vibe, five star live music, tv sport, great cocktails, fun-seeking crowd, unsurpassed location and good, fond memories to take along when you leave.The more you frequent the place, the more you get used to the lazy, laid back style of the waiters.To be critical of them is easy. Embrace them, help them, order them around, and very soon, you as the patron become part of the "family" and the experience at Beach House will always be a good one!! Where else can you take the kids, the grandmother, the neighbour, the wife, the girlfriend, the pastor, the dog, the boat and your overseas guest, and just know it will all be a memorable experience. I have become a regular. Now I don't care about the slow service from the waiters. I embrace the honest to goodness total package the restaurant has to offer!

I agree with Regular with the service. We have been there a many a times and although the service isnt great, you get used to it. I must admit that the main reason why we go there is for the cocktails. They are by far the best that I have had on the Island to date and my husband and I have been here for almost 3 years now. I would like to add though that on occassion when we have been there at night, the manageress has often either been drinking or who knows what and is rude to some customers and to staff, so much so that we look at each other and cant believe that she has just admitted to customers that she is drunk. Personally, I do not think that this is how she should be acting towards people of any kind but then again, if the owner is fine with that then thats obviously how they see fit to be running their business. The other manager is very polite and he always pays attention to our table which is great. The live entertainment is fantastic with everyone singing along and sometimes customers getting up to dance so all in all, its a great place to be. The staff do have issues amongst themselves and sometimes scream and shout at each other infront of customers. My favourite is the tall guy, Donovan, always putting on a performance and joking with us and Linley,always smiling. I would definately recommend people asking for their service as the girl waiters are quite sour with long faces. Go and enjoy your time there, drink the great cocktails but try stay away from the rude manageress though...

I agree with Regular, the service does need some attention but where else can you go and feel so much a part of the family. Unfortunately "Regular Too" should maybe focus on having a good evening which the beach house certainly provides, especially after being here 3yrs, why torment yourself by frequenting a restaurant where you are ever so critical. I have met the owner and trust me my comments are unbiased. The owner is relaxed but demands professionalism from he's staff, from manger/manageress to waiters. I seriously doubt if the manageress has been drunk that she would be capable of doing the exceptional job she does and to be daft enough to loudly admit she is drunk when each night the owner is at he's restaurant. The beach house has gone through many changes including management and I'm certain many many regulars and visitors will agree the beach house has found the right combination from The chef to waiters and management. Well done everyone at the beach house.

I just had to add Dominique that obviously whenever you decide to venture to the beach house the owner is there. He has not been there on a good few occassions where he obviously has trust in his staff to make things happen in his absense. However, the manageress has on plenty of occassions been drinking on duty. Infact, one once even sat at our table in late December last year and drank wine out of a coffee cup to hide it laughing and thinking it was a big joke.

The place is a dump. The food is awful and over priced. Their cocktails are akin to swap water. You can single out a couple of waiters only for good service. You can see the owners and managers busy getting drunk most of the time. A little bit of apartheid-ish mood. The only plus point is the view.

What is wrong with "The Critique"? This is a restaurant review. APARTHEID? Which century do you live in? It must live in your head.What does "Apartheid-ish" mood mean? Please explain. Keep your comments to the food, value, watered down coctails, or whatever else goes with restaurant re-views. Wish I could meet you. BUT, with the place being as awful as you say, you would probably never go there again? The place "pumps" and is always good enough for me to go again, and again, and again.....

Mon avis reste favorable malgré les améliorations flagrantes qu'il devrait y avoir dans cet établissement. A préciser qu'il règne une ambiance de fête - peu importe l'heure a laquelle vous arrivez que ce soit pour un repas ou pour le pub. Une critique importante serait que le personnel est avare de chaleur (surtout avec les non-habitués) mais ils restent polis jusqu'au bout - heureusement ! Une fois attablée, le service manque de suivi - un peu a la fonctionnaire - ils prennent la commande, ils vous servent les boissons et c'est fini jusqu'au moment de servir les plats. Pour tout autre service, vous devez appeler - ce n'est pas agréable dutout. Il arrive aussi que la direction choque par son management 'coup de poing' et criarde, toutefois, en tournant la tête, le cadre et la vue sont magnifiques, la deco est contemporaine mais certes, mal entretenue - les meubles / les WC / les tables / les chaises sont assez dégradés cependant les couverts sont 'clean', les cocktails sont tous enivrants et la musique est de bon goût. Au final, l'addition se fait attendre - un peu comme une surprise du chef - elle est parfois un peu salée. Si l'envie vous prend d'aller tout régler directement au bar, il arrive qu'on sente bien les vapeurs d'alcool provenant de ses interlocuteurs (clients ou employés) - c'est un bar après-tout et vu la cadence des horaires, c'est normal qu'ils fassent eux-même 'happy hour' plusieurs fois dans la journée ! lol ;) Pour conclure, je dirais que ce restaurant a quasiment tous les ingrédients pour plaire mais il ne tient pas compte des détails qui pourraient fidéliser et enthousiasmer la clientèle en générale - c'est dommage... Malgré le choc de culture, j'y ai passé de bons moments entre amis et collègues. La cuisine est appréciable car les plats sont bien préparés (surtout quand le cuistot n'abuse pas des 'happy-hours') et mention spéciale car la viande utilisée est de très bonne qualité. Bonne continuation mais prenez en compte la critique, surtout si elle permet d'améliorer son chiffre d'affaire !

I think the Beach House has an unbelievable atmosphere, with great food and very friendly staff! The owner, Cabous has an excellent recipe there and is just getting it right and the Beach House is going from strength to strength...he keeps things happening there all the time...having functions, the new cocktail bar, great food specials! The vodka fillet, espatada's, burgers etc are divine and worth every rupee! Well done Cabous and the Beach House staff! Totally worth going to the Beach House for a good meal and great fun! with a view thats unbelievable!

Last bad experience at this restaurant was 4 months ago. Shame on me for assuming that things may have improved......Gave it a try tonight for a family dinner. Sorry to write that the service simply is not there. Absent minded waiters, kitchen mix-ups, food that does not arrive even until we had ended our meal. Of course, the manager on duty is quick to apologize but that is after the fact......just too late after ruining the moment. While it is not ever right to say "I'll never go there again", I certainly would state that "you go there at your own risk and expectations". If you can put up with bad service and going for a nice view/location and good ambiance, then this place does offer that. But, let's face it, you can get a good ambiance at most beach front restaurants or hotels. What we spend our money on is the good times/memories which, on account of erratic and bad service, dings the outcome of the purpose. Just too bad Cabous.....ran into Ashley as I was leaving....he just shook his head at what he heard from me......shame:-(

Great view. Food is terribly over priced. You don't get value for money. Prices are 5 star but the place is just a tiny restaurant on the beach.

So over this place after being dissapointed on so many occasions - poor poor service (who add things- mainly alcoholic - onto the bill..so check yr bills!), the food is way over priced and the quality disgusting, never mind it took 1 1/2 hrs to get a chicken and chips for the kids on one occasion and 2 hrs for our mains on another - and we started complaining after an hour only to be told 'its coming'....When the owner was finally informed he couldn't be bothered to come and speak to us, instead dissapeared into the kitchen..so we left, never to return again...it seems many local people feel the same way, we'll leave it to the tourists.

Do not contain all menus, poor assets and there is a dog always sleeping in the restaurant.

After reading the previous negative reviews I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at the beach house. Whilst the meals were somewhat expensive, the burger was excellent and the cocktails great. Service was more than adequate and Cabous, the owner was very attentive and ran a tight ship. I will certainly go back and would suggest that readers take the beach house for what it is - a great location, cold beers and great cocktails, decent food in a very relaxed atmosphere!!
