is always great, whether the manager / owner is there or not. Its a great place to go for steak... The closet I get to tasting home in South Africa. Well done to all the staff!!

Spur is quite a nice place. We have been there twice. Speed of service was adequate, and the taste and quality of food was fine as well. Extra wishes were accepted and the prices were though on the higher side ok. Drinks came in glasses only so no bottle or can beside the glass. I was wondering what they had a huge wine menue in a fast food restaurant for. I can recommend it especially on the special-feature days.

It is always a gratifying experience to visit Spur as their food is always delicious and tasty and served with real Mauritian style waiters who are always ready to help. I love this restaurant and we will always go often to them.

This is one place where you never get the same experience twice.

Sometimes the food is great & other times terrible.

Sometimes the restaurant is clean & other times grotty.

When the manager/owner is there you usually get a good meal and good service.

When he's not there the place falls apart.

Ein tolles Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis! Gute Steaks, guter Salat und auch sonst gibt es keinen Anlaß zum meckern! Extrawünsche werden ohne zu murren realisiert und der Service ist sehr bemüht! Manchmal jedoch noch etwas ungeübt.
Leider ist das Lokal direkt an der Hauptstraße gelegen und der Lärm stört ungemein, ansonsten wäre es ein traumhafter Blick auf den Stadtstr...

and! Vielleicht wird aus der Hauptstraße ja doch mal eine Strandpromenade - das wäre dann SUPER !!!

Fazit: Das Essen ist prima wenn man europäisch oder südafrikanisch den Hunger stillen will aber entspanntes genießen ist auf Grund der Lage nicht möglich.

You can't believe the amazement of my kids faces when we found their beloved Spur in Grand Baie.
It is a very child friendly restaurant with good food. Nothing exotic. The basic hamburgers, fish, steaks, salads etc.
Spur is located in the center of Grand Baie, on the main road, overlooking the bay where are the boats dock.

Spare ribs are always good. Comes with chips...

and my favorite the onion rings.
They also have a variety of big flame grilled hamburgers with chips and onion rings.

Our favorite is the onion rings, the salad spread, and the devil's fork - fork with mushrooms in a great marinate (grilled).

Must say the prices in Grand Baie was double what we normally pay in South Africa and more expensive than the average restaurants found in Grand Baie.

All in all, a good place to have grilled lunch and a children friendly place.
