But as soon as we were seated, the guy (he looked like he was managing the place alone) told us that there was no prawns, no crab, no squid, and... no beef (i wanted to try the steak, and had to give up on that one). apparently, there has been some big event last night, and they were now short of staff and ingredients (which made us wonder why they still chose to open). We decided to stay anyway (how brave and foolish and inexperienced of us) and try whatever was available on the menu! the food took some........ 45 minutes to arrive. we were still alone by that time. one friend and I each had a soup, which was alright, but overpriced. main courses came 10-15 minutes later. one of my friends had ordered fettuccine, he was given penne instead (without any prior consultation and without presenting any apologies. apparently, they think we would not know the difference between the 2. mine was a "trilogy" of pasta. i expected to get 3 different sauces, but it turned out to be 3 different seafood in one sauce. PESTO should have been one of the ingredients. no pesto. when questioned about it, the dude said the chef "forgot". other friends ordered the "catch of the day", i was told the fish was tasteless, and it was not a whole fish. the grilled vegetables were frozen veggies. To be fair, one of my friends did enjoy his lamb. we had to go to another restaurant in Grand Baie to eat. Not going to Spinnakers again. Note this place is not easy to find (its on the top floor of a supermarket) – but accordingly, the prices of food and cocktails were much cheaper. But it is a good place for watching football and having a good reasonably priced drinks. One thing you should consider, it was quite empty when we came, and basically it was only us and one more table. Cheers! Spinnakers Pub and Grill reviewed by: Laurant O. on 19/07/2009 If you're looking for a place to eat and drink which is sport-themed and has football, cricket and rugby on TV then I'd highly recommend the Spinnakers bar-restaurant. Read More » drinks are quire cheap – cheaper than other place we found in the center of Grand Bay. The Spinnakers is not easy to find, it is located on the top floor of one of the local supermarkets in Grand Baie (the name of the supermarket is store 2000).
