Shooters used to be a lively, friendly and happening restaurant/pub in the heart of Mauritius, heart of the city centre; sadly as of today it has dropped it's food and service standard so low that you would have to pay me to go back there. Let me explain.....If you order a veg brochette, menu says mushrooms ( as one of the vegs ) but you don't get it, no intimation by...

the staff at all; when you ask them, answer is "not available", same for "fresh whole fish", crocodile tails and a couple of other items on the menu,just when you've made your choice, they tell you they don't have it. Drinks - we were served a kamikaze with a mountain of grain sugar at the bottom, reason given was that sugarcane syrup was "not available" and the bartender girl sent a message that i should have it as it was served; giant prawns are supposed to be garlic flavoured and with spicy rice, there was no rice and not even a hint of garlic, only 3 appeared on the plate though the menu specifically says 4; we had to ask even for salt and pepper, then for tomato ketchup and the green chilli paste, we were told the green chilli paste was over, it was 15mnts to 9pm during the Christmas week, busiest time of the year i should presume. There was no manager or senior figure available on duty and the staff were all managers in their own rights. Shooters used to be a real happening place, busy on all days, chock-a-block on weekends beginning Friday; the live music was a real hit; as of today, at times we are the only people there enjoying the music; the music is good but the number of customers have dwindled though they are the only place open late night.....go figure. How I would have loved for the owner of the restaurant to be there; I don't think he is even aware of what is on in the lovely restaurant he created and must have worked hard to attain the reputation it has. Sadly, it is going downwards. For a restaurant that does not have green chilli sauce/paste and a bar that does not have sugar syrup, what more can one say ?
