really NOT GOOD.this ruin my entire night.a head waitress ask me how was my food i just tell her its not indian food at all,she did not even apologise her name was anita she did not even had a nice presentation abt herself,the music was boring.there was a man at the counter who did not have a proper uniform the gurl anita was more interested with that man than the service,its really a shame for this restaurant and its owner,i will never ever put my foot in that restaurant.shame shame shame for happy rajah.

Been there twice for dinner and most certainly recommend this place for Indian dishes. More elaborate and really tasty. Not so spicy as one would tend to think. Good value for money ratio and another advantage it is located in Q Bornes and is easily reached even by a foreigner.

Went to the restaurant last night sept 12 2010.
3 persons in my family with food poisoning.
very bad service, with a very new waiter, who did not even care about knowing the menu.
Not even apologies from the restaurant manager.

I've never been disappointed by the food on my many visits to this restaurant. I love the space that you get, the large tables and the general look and atmosphere. The food is always good, I'm a big fan of the Vindaloo and their fish dishes, which are always served succulent never overcooked and dry. Take many friends there local and international and everyone has always enjoyed their food.

Mauritius service is generally terrible but Happy Rajah is the exception. It is the best service on the island and the quality of the food is excellent.
The Tikka Marsala and Vindaloo are great...

We try go once a month as a treat to our taste buds!

Happy Rajah Restaurant - Nice and friendly atmosphere. A remarkably good feeling, they seem to really like their guests.

Since the minute you walk in, you will feel as if you were in INDIA, incense, decoration, music.

tasty with the vindaloo being my favorite. The presentation of all the dishes was very very nice.

I've eaten at many Indian restaurants before but the best I've ever had is HAPPY RAJAH. Easily. Delicious and spicy dishes, and the naan bread was perfect.

Food, well cooked and very helpful staff. The atmosphere is very nice.

The restaurant was clean including the washroom that had fresh flowers in them.

Oh, I can't wait until I have more friends or relatives come visit. This place will be remembered always.

I will recommend this place to anyone interested in having fantastic authentic Indian food.

I live like 10mins drive from the restaurant so decided to try it for Valentine's Day (Feb 2010). We got there at 7.35pm, lucky me lol I got a seat just under their air conditioner outside on the terrace and complained about the water dripping on my head and all in vain, wanted to leave but held back as didn't want to spoil the day for my wife.

We got 4 overfried...

appalams with 3 small bowls for dippings (mango chutney, green chilly paste, lassi)just after we were seated...Had to wait like half an hour to receive our 'cold' starters, 3 prawn + 3 calamari tempura served with 2 big slices of lemon and one spoon of grated cabbage and carrot, I had to point out to two waiters to get our drinks. Yuck drinks were on the house but they taste bad so ordered sparkling water which had far better taste lol

It felt like an eternity before we were served our main course, exactly 9.40pm, what a pity as we were no more hungry, the grilled seafood platter was damn cold geez it was supposed to be grilled so meaning served hot but these people I wonder how they can come to your table with all these food served COLD!!! There was 2 calamari grilled which tasted like rubber, 2 raw pieces of grilled fish with its bitter skin, 3 grilled lobster cooked to the perfect but cold again so really smelly!! And again a little of grated cabbage and carrot with two big slices of lemon in the corner of the plate...

At 10.05 we were served dessert, to crown it all, we were shocked to notice that we had a scoop of vanilla ice cream with some canned fruit in syrup and underneath a suprise, carrot halwa which was a horror to the sight and our taste buds!!

We had to do a lot of waiving, one minute you had loud indian music playing on and the next nothing then after some minutes the same scenario over and over again and finally they switched it off... The waiter kept asking us stupidly if we enjoyed our food each and everytime that at the end I told him bluntly that the food was cold and we had to wait loads and that I hope next time if there is one, the service and food would be better!!! Surprisingly, I've been generous in tipping him as he felt like he wanted to cry so didn't spoil his day as mine already has been!!

We were not the only ones complaining, we had observed lot of leftovers from all tables around and we overheard a couple who ordered naan which tasted funny!!!

I have also to point out that this was the worst ever Indian restaurant we have ever been and that a finger bowl (with luke warm water and lemon) with a small towel is served to each person for rinsing fingers in most indian restaurants of good names be it in India or Mauritius and here it was not the case!!!
